This training – offered by Special Cargo College in conjunction with BLOM Opleidingen – trains for the forklift certificate. We have three variants of this training, all of which have a sophisticated and didactic structure. The basic beginner’s course (bookable on this page) has a very extensive practical component: you will learn to drive the forklift and master it to perfection. Even in the advanced basic training, the emphasis is on practice; we pay extra attention to incorrectly taught operations. The refresher course (also bookable on this page) has special exercises to refresh the forklift operator’s current knowledge.
At the end of the course, every participant – from beginner to highly experienced – will be able to operate the forklift competently and safely. Forklift training culminates with a BLOM safety exam as standard. Upon successful completion, you will receive the forklift certificate, which is valid for five years.
For whom
The basic beginner course is designed for employees who do not yet have forklift experience. The basic advanced course is specifically designed for employees who have some experience driving the forklift but have not previously earned certification. Drivers whose previously obtained certificate is/is about to expire take the refresher training.
What do you learn?
The basic beginner’s training focuses primarily on driver self-confidence and vision. Advanced and refresher training also cover these topics; in addition, it focusses in on regulations and awareness. Topics covered include:
- Visually inspecting and checking operation of forklift, via an LMRA (video)
- Skillfully driving and correctly pre-turning a 3-wheel and 4-wheel forklift truck
- stacking loose pallets
- getting pallets out of racks up to four high (video)
- stacking of mesh boxes and cold stacking of IBCs
- placing pallets in a drive-in rack
- placing cargo in shipping containers and proper use ramp
- picking up and handling wide loads
- maneuvering with a wide beam (video)
- safely loading trailers and use of headboard (video)
- parking in the right place and use of parking brake
- stacking cargo with EPT/stacker and safely putting it away in rack (video)
