By now 43 thousand people are grateful users of Special Cargo Online, Special Cargo College’s training portal. In 2019, the platform went live. But not that our developers are sitting back now: they are constantly working to make the portal even more user-friendly. For example, it now has a new look and feel. Do you know Special Cargo Online yet? We would be happy to give you a demo!

Which employee has already taken which course? When do certificates expire and do my people need to refresh? Special Cargo Online, the digital training portal, answers all such questions. For example, it is never again searching for the expiration dates of employee certificates and diplomas obtained. In fact, well before the due date, users automatically receive a reminder with a direct link to registering for the refresher course.

For employees and managers

The platform is set up for different audiences, each with their own access rights. For example, managers have instant insight into course scheduling and availability, who has taken which course, and all employee certifications earned. For employees, the portal acts as a personal portfolio. They can see their own grades and results, download certificates and see when they need to take a course, says Nanda van der Velden, online learning and development officer. “So organizations no longer need to keep shadow records or excel lists. And all at no cost, simply as a service to our customers.”

Clear

Martina Fennema of pharmaceutical company Carbogen Amcis is one of the happy users: “We have at least 50 employees who need to be trained on a regular basis. So it is important to keep a good overview of this. With Special Cargo’s training portal we don’t have to worry about that. I am automatically notified when I need to register another employee for training, and that’s done with one push of a button. Also convenient that I can see the certificates obtained per employee at a glance. Very user-friendly!”

“I automatically get a notification when I need to sign up another employee for training, and it’s done with the push of a button.”

Linking with HR system

Nanda continues: “Soon we are going to investigate whether it is possible to link our portal to the HR system of our major clients. When the time comes, they will be able to make a printout of the state of affairs in an instant, the moment the competent authority comes to conduct an audit: ‘These employees are now engaged in such and such training, these courses have been completed, and here are the corresponding certificates.’ How nice would that be? Needless to say, we will keep our customers informed of these developments.”

Not standing still

‘Standing still is going backwards’ is a common saying, which certainly applies to Special Cargo Online as well. With the growth ambition for the platform, upgrades, new features and innovation are incredibly important. “For example, we recently optimized the employee page, the page where employee profiles are created. We have improved the loading speed and the search functions. And now we are in the process of making the texts on all course pages even more unambiguous.”

New catalog

“What’s so nice: our customers keep us on our toes,” Nanda continues. “We inform them about every update and then always ask what we can improve further. So after every mailing, some feedback trickles in. Based on this, we are now working on a new catalog – the overview of all our courses – which will go live soon. An appropriate picture, more compact information, a better layout, also on cell phones. Even though Special Cargo Online is already very functional, for now we’re not out of the loop.”
