Special Cargo College’s courses in Civil Aviation Security are based on NCTV regulations. One of the security positions within this was always the Air Cargo Security Advisor (Beveiligingsadviseur Luchtvracht, BAL). But the certification for that has since been replaced by that of Supervisor and Security Manager Air Cargo. What should you do if you are in transition? You’ll find the answers in our Transition Help BAL!

Changes

The NCTV (Nationaal Coördinator Terrorismebestrijding en Veiligheid, National Coordinator for Counterterrorism and Security) has developed certificates for the various security positions available at the airport. Special Cargo College trains employees for all those certifications. Now, the NCTV made several changes in the job classification of employees last year. This obviously affects our training programs as well.

From BAL to…

Thus, the certification for Security Advisor Air Cargo (BAL) has been replaced by that of Supervisor Air Cargo (SVLV) and Security Manager Air Cargo (SMLV). The change in the law is effective Jan. 1, 2023, but BAL training could legally continue to be given until June 1 of this year. The certificate for this is valid for 1 year from the date of issue. After that, you can convert your certificate to Security Manager or Supervisor through refresher training.
