ADR training is a course based on the regulations governing the road transport of dangerous goods in Europe. The “ADR course” usually refers to the driver’s certificate of competence course.

Who is required to take an ADR course?

This course is mandatory for drivers of vehicles that will transport dangerous goods above certain exempt quantities within Europe.

What does the course train for?

The ADR course trains for the ADR certificate, also called the ADR diploma. The ADR certificate of professional competence is obtained by passing an ADR exam at the CBR/CCV.

Renewing the ADR certificate.

The period of validity of the ADR certificate is 5 years. In the year before the expiration date, a renewal course can be taken and a renewal exam can be taken.

What topics are covered in the ADR course?

Laws and regulations, Supervision and detection, Hazard characteristics, Classification and recognition, Documents, Exemptions, Packaging, Labeling, Compounding and segregation requirements, Vehicle and container identification, Loading and unloading, Security, Transportation rules, Equipment, Personal protective equipment, Accident measures, Fire and fire fighting.

What modules does the ADR course consist of?

ADR courses are modular in structure. The main module of the course is ADR Basic, or the ADR commodity course. The basic course can be expanded with the additional modules ADR Tank, ADR Class 1 (Explosive Substances) and ADR Class 7 (Radioactive Substances). There are ADR courses for beginners and for extenders.

If after obtaining or renewing the ADR Basic you want to extend your certificate with a module Tank, Class 1 or Class 7 and you should note that the additional module expires simultaneously with the expiration date of the Basic certificate.

How long does an ADR course take?

ADR Basic Module

Our ADR Basic course lasts 2.5 days and is the same for beginners and extenders.

ADR Tank Module

Our ADR Tank course takes 1.5 days and is the same for beginners and extenders.

Modules Class 1

For the ADR Class 1 module, the exam requirements and also the number of exam questions for beginners and extenders are the same. The course lasts 1 day and is the same for beginners and extenders.

Modules Class 7

For the ADR Class 7 module, the exam requirements and also the number of exam questions for beginners and extenders are the same. The course lasts 1 day and is the same for beginners and extenders.

What are the ADR pass rates?

For years, our pass rate for courses has been above 90%.

The ADR course as a refresher course for the Code 95

The professional driver can also have the hours of the ADR course count toward the mandatory continuing education for the purpose of the Code 95 on the driver’s license.
